Time for change...

My little girl is growing up. She finished K-3 school this year and knows her ABC's and can count to 16, knows all of her colors, shapes and many other things. One thing that I find amazing is she can read HopOnPop to me. She gets almost every word right!!! Now that summer is here Emily was begging for me to get her hair cut. We had it cut right after Easter and had about 3 1/2 inches cut off then.

We went last week and had another 4 inches cut off. She doesn't look like a baby any more! I can't get over the change it made in her looks. It is so much easier to maintain now!! Her hair is so fine that it tangles really bad and it was always a battle in the mornings to get her to stand still for me to brush it and that was with using detangler. Now we just brush it and go!
What other changes will this summer bring for us?? I imagine we will have an exciting summer!

Ground Hog Day in May??

Well, today it is supposed to be in the upper 80s (88 to be exact). We just skipped right over spring and went straight to summer. The joys of living in the south! We've got a pretty busy day today. We have a play date today with some friends at church. It should be alot of fun. The girls just got a new swing set so we are going over to their house to play for a little while. If it isn't too late when we are finished playing, Emily and I are going to ride over to Prattville to the Bass Pro Shop and exchange the sunglasses that Mike and Emily gave me for my birthday. They hardly block out the sunlight and the legs are too big for my head. It isn't Mike's fault, he bought the ones that I tried on and they were the ones that the sales girl recommended. Oh well. Of course, the ones that I want/need are $50 MORE than the ones that I got so I guess I'll be contributing the difference out of my "fun" money.

Yesterday afternoon I was going through the master bedroom and glanced out the window and saw something and thought that it was a really big squirrel. I kept on going and then it hit me that squirrels don't get that big. I went back to see what it was and I couldn't figure out what it was so I grabbed my camera and took a picture of it. Mike and I finally narrowed it down that it is a ground hog or a wood chuck. I also learned last night that a ground hog and a wood chuck are the same thing. Learn something new every day!

Well, off to make it day 2 on the treadmill before Emily wakes up.

A Perfect Birthday!

Today is my birthday and it was perfect! Mike told me happy birthday before he left for work. I had to wake Emily up at 7:15 this morning so she could go to Mother's Day Out. When I woke her up she told me happy birthday and gave me a hug and rubbed my cheek. :-) Then she proceeded to tell me what she got me for my birthday. She said it is "a cake holder and it has lots of holes in it and it is pink." I couldn't for the life of me figure out what she was talking about. Tracie took the girls to school this morning so I had the entire day at home to do whatever I wanted to until 1:30. After Emily left I finally managed to get myself back on the treadmill. I walked for 30 minutes and walked 1.289 miles. I haven't been on the treadmill in a LONG TIME! Picked Emily up from school, she came home and immediately went to bed at 2:30 and got up at 5:10. Mike came home from work around 5:15 and he and Emily gave me my presents. Emily's present was a mini-muffin pan. It was one of the Wilton silicon mini muffin pans and it was pink. Mike got me a pair of Coastal Del Mar sunglasses that I've been wanting for about a year. I can't believe he spent that much money on sunglasses, I sure do love him! Then we went out to eat, to Lowe's to buy flowers for the yard and then to Dairy Queen for ice cream! What a perfect day this was!

Power of Prayer

I know this is going to sound vain or trivial but Emily bumped her front tooth at a friends house in September 2007. The gum bled a little bit but I didn't think anything about it. Almost a month later the tooth started turning colors and getting dark. Emily had never been to the dentist (she was 3 1/2) so I made an appointment with a dentist and we went in and he looked at it and said it was a little loose and to just watch it. So from October until February we went back to the dentist every 4 - 5 weeks for him to keep a check on it to make sure it wasn't getting worse. The initial x-ray showed that there was some trauma to it but it did not damage the permanent teeth which were already showing up on the x-ray (really neat to see). Today Emily went back to the dentist for her 6 month cleaning and the tooth is actually going back to its normal color!!!! The dentist said that it can sometimes take several months for a tooth to heal. I'm so glad that she isn't going to have to go through nerve treatment for her tooth!

God is good!
